Shadow of mordor sweetfx12/23/2023 In case of Witcher 3 it is very hard to balance that stuff in real time at such scale, because sunny day can be overexposed (too bright) and night can be underexposed (too dark). When i have animations, than i animate some materials to achive the right exposure constantly during short clip. Just put the sun in another direction and the same scene can become awful in terms of right shadow exposure, and than i must manualy tweak materials ( i'm speaking about rendering in Vray, Cinema4d, Octane etc. Believe me, from my personal 3d visualization experience for architecture clients i always have problem with that. I think that the main problem for developers was dynamic day/night cycles and weather effects.
